Phone guy: Hi, is this Daniel?
Me: (Groggy) Hi, yes.
Phone guy: What is your mailing address?
Me: Excuse me?
Phone guy: Are you the CEO of Disqus? I need your mailing address.
Me: I'm very confused. Who are you?
Phone guy: I'm from Accenture. We need your mailing address, please. We need to send you promotional material.
Me: I... no, thank you.
Phone guy: WHAT IS YOUR MAILING ADDRESS.

Integration hurdles →
Integration with Disqus should be easy. We don’t think it’s easy enough, as evidenced by the many support posts and emails. Sorry about this. There has been updates to many of the integration pages that should make this more streamlined. Expect a major revision of the entire process in the near future. Also, Todd Sampson of MyBlogLog hooked us up with access to their new beta API a short while...

Support for Obama
This week, I’ve noticed that outspoken support for Barack Obama has grown among outlets that I pay attention. Blog posts, Twitters, newspaper articles, — many have taken the leap and made an official endorsement of Barack. This morning, I think I’m about ready to do the same. I am not registered as a Democrat. Why is this important, you ask? It really isn’t, I suppose. I consider...

Nick: food + starbucks + sleeping...all in the same building! god must live here
Nick: that's why all the homeless people sleep as close as possible
Nick: it explains everything

MyBlogLog opens up →
Joe Laz writes that MyBlogLog’s API could be a game changer. We at Disqus are really excited about this. There are things that we’re working on now that can work very well with MBL. We’ll let the ideas float around for a bit more and write a new post about it. Read ReadWriteWeb’s article on this for more information.

RIP Heath
He was quickly becoming one of my favorite actors for his versatility. The glimpses of his Joker portrayal in previews easily rivaled any other actor to ever put on the purple suit. The Dark Knight is in post-production. I hope it does his career justice, because it’d be one hell of a film to sign off on. Another River Phoenix. Sucks.

Twitter feature request
Twitter is a good way to see what’s buzzing during the day. Along with my daily RSS, I check Twitter in the morning to see what people are talking about because chances are big news will find its way there. I follow some very active Twitterers. Sometimes I miss a lot of good tweets because the entire front page is filled with one or two people’s frantic messages. I go to Twitter.com...

Lack of simple freeware apps for Mac?
I was primarily a PC user for a very long time. I came from Windows XP and switched to Mac OS X when I bought a Macbook earlier last year. But for OS X, how come I always feel like there’s a lack of simple free apps? If I need to take care of a little task or perform a small tweak, there’s a plethora of open source or free tools out there for Windows. It seems, however, that I have to...

Rotten Tomatoes gets a redesign →
One of my fav sites gets a makeover. I’m not sure if I like it yet. At present, I definitely preferred the original; and if I were to make design decisions, I’d change a lot about that UI. In related news, Cloverfield is at a rotten rating. :(

iPhone SMS limit extended from 1,000 to 75,000; Multi-touch keyboard now can register two fingers at once I so did not know this. Small fixes like this make fans out of people. I had to constantly delete entire text conversations because of the limit. via camh

The Early Bird Gets the Bad Grade →
“In 2002, high schools in Jessamine County in Kentucky pushed back the first bell to 8:40 a.m., from 7:30 a.m. Attendance immediately went up, as did scores on standardized tests, which have continued to rise each year. Districts in Virginia and Connecticut have achieved similar success. In Minneapolis and Edina, Minn., which instituted high school start times of 8:40 a.m. and 8:30 a.m....

Modify the comment count link →
The comment count link. It counts, it links, it does it all. It’s the little link under your posts that says 0 Comments (if it’s my blog) or 148 Comments (if you’re, say, Fake Steve Jobs). Now you can have it say whatever you want. As always, it’s in your Integration Settings. Enjoy.

Showing Faces →
As of today, there are many commenters on the Disqus network that look like this: Either all of these commenters come from the same (question marked) mother, or we aren’t doing a good enough job encouraging people to set a buddy icon. Why set a buddy icon (or avatar)? This seemingly trivial bit completely changes how involved someone feels with a website. Seeing faces makes the conversation...
